Practical in Pink – A Houston Kitchen Remodel

Sheffield House Design Pink Kitchen Remodel in Houston Coffee Bar
This Houston home built in 1963 had a small kitchen and separate formal dining room which was rarely used. Removing walls to open the space adds functionality for an active family, while a stunning color choice updates an uninspired previous remodel and makes the space lively and fun.

The original kitchen was too small and dark for two cooks, and Sheffield House Design was asked to spec all aspects of a brand new kitchen, including the floorplan, cabinetry, ironwork, finishes, fixtures, and furniture.

Top priorities: a coffee bar with professional equipment including a plumbed rinser, space for crafting cocktails and displaying a collection of liquors. The new kitchen design features custom ironwork and glass shelving in soft gold, an engineered quartz integrated table with a waterfall edge, and mid-century inspired pendants.

The same flecked quartz serves as countertop and backsplash throughout the kitchen.  Opening up the space allowed for a prep kitchen which can be closed with a pocket door to contain clutter.  In a unique touch, the owner’s daughter (and her parents) approved a timeless blush pink for the cabinetry, adding mid century charm and the distinction of coolest kitchen on the block.
