Standard Spec to Maximalist Marvel in Houston’s Bellaire Neighborhood

Our clients approached us after purchasing a newly built spec home that lacked any interior personality—the interiors were essentially a blank canvas of white sheetrock.

They had brought over a mix of furniture from their previous home, but the hodge podge assortment didn’t quite fit in the new environment. After purchasing two beautiful statement pieces—a rug and a live-edge dining table—they realized the scope of this design project was far greater than one they could handle alone.

Enter Sheffield House Design!

We were brought on board to fully furnish and style the home with color and personality. One of the main challenges was blending their contrasting tastes: his love of the outdoors and natural textures with her glamorous style and affinity for bold colors and jewel tones.

We designed the dining room to be both functional and expressive—a space where the family could gather, entertain, and enjoy game nights. The live-edge table seats ten and sits on the patterned green rug- the aforementioned first two items the clients purchased.

The dining room opens into a small sitting area in the foyer. There, we installed a slab of book-matched Brazilian jadeite stone—the resulting Rorschach pattern is quite striking and fully one-of-a-kind.

In the office, a safari-inspired rug and ‘his’ personal “cowboy art” add a Western flair. The result is a masculine version of a jewel box.

The primary bathroom was entirely gutted. We replaced the ceramic floors and porcelain walls with natural stone tiles, adding authenticity and luxury.

The result? The house is no longer a blank canvas of sheetrock. Our design joins the homeowners’ unique aesthetic preferences -the outdoorsman and the glamour- through each room with bold colors, natural textures, and plenty of refined details. Every room has a purpose, and the home as a whole feels cohesive, comfortable, and uniquely theirs.
